CU CHI TUNNELS – AFTERNOON (WITHOUT LUNCH)
[Scroll down to book your tour]
A trip to Vietnam would not be complete without seeing the Cu Chi Tunnels and understanding the Vietnam War. The Cu Chi Tunnels are an amazing piece of Vietnamese history, especially being one of the most important remnants of the war era.
Located 50 kilometers northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, this historical site is an elaborate underground network made up of 250km of tunnels and chambers in the town of Cu Chi. Visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels, you will get to see first-hand and up close how the Vietnamese soldiers fought for the country’s reunification. Furthermore, you will have a chance to experience going through a real tunnel, get a deep insight how the Vietnamese survived living inside the tunnels for years and understand their high-levelled determination and undaunted fighting spirit despite the carpet-bombings and tanks.
Different from other classic tours to Cu Chi Tunnels, taking a speedboat trip along the Saigon River to get to tunnel is the perfect choice to avoid traffic and explore the daily life of local inhabitants on the riverside.
12:40 Pick you up at the hotel lobby and then transfer you to Cau Mong pier by car or minivan.
13:10 Embark on a speedboat heading towards Cu Chi Tunnels and it takes us almost one and half hours to get there. When sitting on board, a light breakfast, fresh tropical fruits and mineral water are served. On the way, you will enjoy the fresh air and observe the pure beautiful landscape. In the meantime, our guide will explain about the daily rural life of local people living along the riverbanks.
14:30 Arrive at Cu Chi Tunnels (Ben Dinh) and proceed to an underground hut to watch a short documentary video and presentation about Cu Chi Tunnels during the wartime. Afterwards, you will have a soft walk into the jungle to visit the bomb craters, the countless traps, the secret entrance, the fighting bunkers, the air ventilation and the constructed living areas. For those interested, there is a chance to fire off an AK47 or MK16 with real bullets at the shooting range. Furthermore, you can witness the rice-paper (spring roll skin) as well as the rice-wine production line and you can even try to go through the actual tunnel. Then, you will gather together to test tasting the steamed tapioca root which is the main staple food in Cu Chi during the war.
16:30 Say goodbye to Cu Chi and return to Saigon.
17:50 Arrive back to Cau Mong pier and be dropped off at your hotel.
