Mekong Delta is the region in southwest of Vietnam where the mighty Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of distributaries. With a system of fertile soil and dense rivers and canals, the Mekong Delta is the agricultural heart of southern Vietnam and also one of the most important fishing regions in all of Vietnam.
Escaping hustle and bustle of the city, a day on the Mekong Delta is an ideal option to explore a quieter side of Vietnamese life. Drifting gently along canals, beneath overhanging coconut trees, in a hand-rowed sampan; cycling through peaceful villages featuring a wide range of trees; visiting a traditional rural Vietnamese house surrounded by a fruit garden… will bring you a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The tour is more fascinating when you have a chance to meet the friendly local people to understand more about their daily rural life regarding how to collect rain water catering for their living activities, how to take care for their gardens and pluck the ripen fruits, how to worship their ancestor and so on. There are many more interesting places and activities in Mekong Delta for your exploration (visiting a pagoda, a four-generation family, a shrimp farm, a coconut factory…) that really show you what real-life is like in the Mekong. The locals’ hospitality and their simpleness will definitely make your trip even more enjoyable.
